About

New work on paper, prints and paintings were part of the LOOP solo at the Cut Gallery.

As a trained printmaker and painter Amanda works in both media so that each body of work leads to the next. They hold equal values to her practice because of their similarities and differences, printmaking now much closer in technique to her painting as it primarily monotype and therefore unique as opposed editioned.

They are animated references to her experience as a woman working in different circumstance, environment and context. They are emotional and specific in their source using natural and cultural references across decades to cross pollinate current her current ideas.

Colour, instinctive mark making and serendipity alongside theoretical borders and definitions mix precise with gut reaction.

Edgcombe has varied experience working with architects and designers, for commercial and private commissions. Her research and practical design of landscape and architecture also created a base to expand her use of materials with a more assertive understanding of colour, layering and gestural mark making.
